RENTER PROTECTION

The Tenants Anti-Harassment Ordinance is nearly finalized. It is critical to ensure that the ordinance is implemented prior to the end of the eviction moratorium.

Additionally, the city must pledge its support to tenants’ right to counsel. During this period of uncertainty, it is low-income tenants, women of color, and families with children that comprise the most vulnerable of populations. Yet, 90% of tenants facing eviction do not have legal representation.

Studies conclude that the right to counsel for tenants is one of the most cost-effective ways of keeping people in their homes.
