STREAMLINING PERMITS

Affordable housing units are held to the same standards as any other building in Los Angeles.  Typically, this involves a lengthy approval process.

We propose that the Bureau of Engineering, Department of City Planning, Housing and Community Investment Department, Department of Transportation, Department of Water and Power, and Los Angeles Fire Department be instructed to form a central command center similar to the Unified Homeless Response Center and develop a cohesive process for review of any project deemed to qualify as affordable housing.

In addition, we support the creation of a citywide ranking system for publicly funded housing projects.  The ranking system will focus on measurable outcomes.  This will ensure that review priority is centered on those projects that will provide the greatest number of units in the shortest amount of time.
